The Urban Family Council is concerned with helping to strengthen the community by addressing the hard-hitting topics of the streets head on.

President of the Urban Family Council Christopher A. Pender declared to the Tribune this hard-hitting method is the best way.

The non-profit organization, located at 4950 Parkside Ave., serves students in kindergarten to 12th grade, parents, ex-offenders and college-aged students. Read the whole article… and Link to the Tribune.

Donor of the Month – IMPACT THRIFT STORES
Urban Family Council strives to make a difference in the lives of youth and families throughout the area. We are blessed to have the support of a non-profit organization whose mission is to "positively impact the local community." Impact Thrift Stores has been a faithful donor to our organization for many years. They are able to support us financially through three operations in the area: Hatboro (photo inset), East Norriton and Lansdale, PA. Impact Thrift sells top-quality, gently-used merchandise and donates a percentage of the proceeds to Urban Family Council and other local charities. We are very grateful to reap the rewards for the hard work the Impact Thrift Staff puts in every day. Impact’s President and CEO, Paul Baur, with the help a dedicated team, has been impacting communities and families through Impact Thrift Stores since the year 2001. We want to take this opportunity to publicly thank them for their continued support!

Donating to Impact Thrift Stores is a wonderful way for our supporters to give and help sustain UFC’s programs that Build Healthy Families. For more information on an Impact Thrift Store near you, visit their website at www.impactthrift.org or call 215-957-6131.

Church Leaders Unite for Philadelphia Families
Tuesday, December 16, 2008 pastors from churches throughout the City of Philadelphia and suburbs joined Urban Family Council at our headquarters at 4950 Parkside Ave. to discuss a solution to the negative impact the budget cuts are having on the city’s youth and families. The event was centered on a theme: "One Mind, One Heart, One Cause." The event brought church leaders from all over to come together to hear about the programs that UFC is running to build healthy families. The goal: to gain the support of churches and give hope for the future.

Special guest speakers included Pastor Ray McKeithan from Bear Ye One Another’s Burdens Family Ministry Church and Pastor Mark Humphries from True Light Fellowship Church. Both churches are located in Philadelphia and have had great relationships with Urban Family Council.

Pastor Jim Peper from New Beginnings Church in Toughkenamon and New Beginnings Academy in Chester, PA spoke about the partnership between UFC and the Christian School. "Chester City is in great need, and they have the programs, so we work together hand in hand…It’s a great organization…because I’ve seen what they have done in our school just in the few weeks they have been there with these kids. They want to make a difference."

Urban Family Council partners with churches and faith-based organizations to provide workshops to develop leaders, build character, and strengthen relationship skills for youth and parents. For more information on having a program at your church, call our office at 215-879-2485.
