Harrisburg, PA –

Harrisburg, PA – The 2009 convention of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania (LPPa) will be held on Saturday, May 2 at the Clarion Holiday Inn (www.hiclarion.com). The convention features an exciting assortment of activities including workshops, luncheon and evening dinner speakers, an annual awards ceremony and business sessions.

For attendees arriving on Friday, May 1, the Pennsylvania Gun Owners are sponsoring a Gun Shoot event where they will offer their assistance at a local firing range. There will be rifles and ammunition provided, or you may bring your own firearm. There will be no cost for this event, but a donation to the Pennsylvania Gun Owners is requested.

Saturday begins with business sessions for committee reports and delegates to vote on issues. The business issues include the election for next year’s Executive Board members, proposed bylaws or platform changes, and the vote on the retention of platform planks.

The Saturday luncheon features a special presentation by the Commonwealth Foundation.

The afternoon features two concurrent workshops. Robert Butler will provide a workshop on campaigning for local office. Mr. Butler is former Chair of the Libertarian Party of Ohio and author of the new book "18 Steps to Win a Local Election: A Candidate and Volunteer Handbook". Mr. Butler has over 20 years of experience on political campaigns.

Aaron Bollinger of Aaron Russo’s Restore the Republic will conduct a second workshop on lobbying state legislatures. Mr. Bollinger has done extensive work in many states, including Pennsylvania, on rejection of REAL ID and other issues.

The evening dinner program features the annual awards program and speakers James Lark, regional representative to the Libertarian National Committee, and Aaron Bollinger of Restore the Republic.

The 2009 convention promises to be an exciting event. For registration or additional information on this year’s convention, please visit www.LPPA.org.
