Pennsylvania’s 2018 gubernatorial race is on. Republican Sen. Scott Wagner Wednesday becomes the first candidate to formally throw his hat in the ring for the GOP nomination to take on Democratic incumbent Gov. Tom Wolf.

Wagner, 61, made his announcement on Wednesday at an event at his trash hauling company, Penn Waste’s truck terminal in East Manchester Township, York County, one of six stops he will be making around the state later Wednesday and on Thursday to declare his candidacy.

After calling Gov. Tom Wolf a "major roadblock that is preventing many reforms from taking place, he said "Pennsylvanians are becoming more frustrated. It’s very simple. Governor Wolf is a failed governor. That’s why I am officially announcing my candidacy for governor of Pennsylvania."
