In March, Democratic Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California introduced House Concurrent Resolution 29 which alleges that "women will disproportionately face harmful impacts from climate change."

Ms. Lee’s resolution warns that, because global warming will create world "conflict and instability," women will be forced into "transactional sex" – prostitution – in order to procure food and water for themselves and their families.

From the resolution: "Food insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health."

Never mind that current global warming "theory" posits that a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide would only cause an increase in average Earth temperatures of 1 degree Celsius. The most apocalyptic alarmists use unsupported hypotheses — the most notable of which, water vapor, has been disproven already — to triple that forecasted outcome to 3 degrees C. The range of changes from 1 to 3 degrees Celsius is insignificant compared to already existing worldwide temperature variations.

Global warming alarmists have never explained how a 1 to 3 degree change would cause catastrophic consequences that we haven’t experienced from far greater existing and historical temperature variations.

Consider one United States example: Pennsylvania’s average annual temperature is 9.3 degrees C (48.8 F). Florida’s is 21.5 degrees C (70.7 F). The average temperature variation between Pennsylvania and Florida is twelve times the theoretical increase and four times greater than the alarmists’ estimate from doubling atmospheric CO2 – an essential gas also known as "plant food."

Nonetheless, prostitution arrests in both states have trended downward since 2001.

For millennia, plants – and animals – have thrived over wide temperature variances. Worldwide, people live and prosper within a far broader range of temperatures and climates than any potential change resulting from the global warming alarmists’ dubious worst-case scenario.

Perceptive skeptics suspect that climate alarmism is just left-wing agitprop, another pretense to advance other liberal policy goals: The environmental left’s solutions to what they call a warming "crisis" are to raise taxes, grow government, hamstring capitalism and relinquish national sovereignty. Not coincidentally, those are the same policies the left always pursues, even in the absence of "urgent, time-critical" global environmental "catastrophes."

Of course climate changes, but, practical people address it by adapting as prehistoric Homo sapiens did entering and exiting the last ice age.
Practical Americans believe that climate change is normal, and that, other than environmental prudence, human efforts to combat it are meaningless.
But, then, practical people are neither self-absorbed enough to believe they caused climate change nor arrogant enough to assume they can "fix" it.

Amusingly, Congresswoman Lee’s resolution contends that women are "often underrepresented in the development and formulation of policy regarding adaptation to climate change," but doesn’t explain how people who may be unable to adapt to climate change without resorting to prostitution are well-informed or sensible enough to offer superior policy ideas.
Clearly, Ms. Lee takes a dim view of her gender’s coping skills and intelligence – or ours.
