February 08, 2010:
Pennsylvania's longest serving Congressman, John Murtha, passed away today at the age of 77.
Congressman Murtha was the first Vietnam War veteran to be elected to Congress. His long, and often controversial, time in office was spent serving a district that currently spans nine counties in the western part of Pennsylvania.
The Lincoln Institute extends its sympathies to the family, friends, and associates of Congressman Murtha on his passing along with our gratitude for his service to our nation.
