Obama’s Fantasy Presidency

Member Group : Glen Meakem

Last week, Americans learned that President Obama knew within 24 hours that the attack on our consulate in Benghazi was carried out by an organized group of terrorists. But, instead of talking honestly to us about this 9/11 anniversary atrocity, Obama spent two weeks trying to cover up what had actually happened. Even after the intelligence reports confirming terrorist connections were made public, and after various Administration officials — including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — finally admitted that the attack was a pre-planned terrorist assault by al Qaeda, Obama continued to live in his own fantasy world by blaming the extreme violence on a stupid, sophomoric (and funny) anti-Mohammed video.

That’s right! Even as I write, President Obama has not publicly uttered the words "terrorism" or "al Qaeda" and still wants us to believe that U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens is dead because of a video posted on You-Tube back in July. Unfortunately, the truth is that Stevens is dead because Obama’s policy of apology and appeasement towards radical Islam has failed. Despite the fact that Obama IS THE PRESIDENT and has literally and figuratively bowed to the Muslim world, America and its President are still hated, and contrary to Obama’s claims, al Qaeda is re-emerging and growing stronger again. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration ignored these truths and failed to provide adequate security for Ambassador Chris Stevens and other American personnel in Benghazi. In spite of growing documentation (including a possible al Qaeda "hit list" containing Ambassador Chris Steven’s name and Steven’s personal journal in which he expressed his own fears of terrorism) the Obama Administration was living in its own fantasy world before and after the attack. Before the attack, they took no action to secure the American consulate because they did not believe organized terrorism was possible under the reign of Obama. After the organized al Qaeda strike, Obama and his team simply refused to acknowledge publicly that a terrorist attack had even occurred. But as we learned in the story of "The Emperor with no Clothes," the truth is a difficult thing to suppress, and now we all see how duplicitous Obama and his team have been. Do you trust these people with your security and your safety in a dangerous world?

While in New York last week, Obama could have seized numerous opportunities to set a new tone regarding his Middle Eastern policies at the UN General Assembly. But instead, as soon as he finished delivering his speech, Obama promptly left the gathering of world leaders to appear on "The View" where he literally called himself "eye candy." Obama could have met individually with Middle Eastern leaders and promised them that we would exercise all options to defend ourselves and our interests around the globe. Instead, Obama decided to appear on Univision where he proclaimed that his greatest failure as President was his inability to pass comprehensive immigration reform. (I guess Obama believes that base rate unemployment of over 8% for 43 straight months — the worst economic performance since World War II — is a success! I guess allowing the first American Ambassador to be assassinated since Jimmy Carter was in the White House is also a success!) Obama could have met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the growing need for a firm "red line" when it comes to Iran’s nuclear program. But instead, he decided to appear with David Letterman and declare that our record high debt level is not a number he recalls and not something we "have to worry about" in the short run.

With a little over one month to go before the election, last week demonstrated exactly who Obama really is. He likes to speak to crowds of like minded liberals, attend fancy dinners, and play golf on courses reserved for him and members of Congress. But unfortunately, he has also shown over and over again that he does not like to do the hard stuff. He is a "fantasy President." If you want to learn more, please find a podcast of last weekend’s radio program here.

President Obama has missed two thirds of his national security briefings during his almost four years in office. In the days before and after the 9/11 anniversary attacks, he continued to miss these briefings. He’s not interested in meeting with foreign leaders while anti-American demonstrations continue in the Middle East, or while the question of a nuclear armed Iran hangs in the balance. And he is not interested in offering real solutions to our economic problems, preferring instead to engage in class warfare as he seeks re-election.

In short, Obama doesn’t like to face and deal with reality. Instead, he prefers to engage in a fantasy where his policies have made the world safer for everyone, where the private sector is doing fine, where Obamacare actually lowers healthcare costs while extending access to care to more Americans, where solar and wind energy can replace our need for coal, oil, and gas, and where Americans are generally better off than they were four years ago. Of course, none of this is true. And Obama has made it very clear that the only way for America to experience a change in direction is for us to replace him with Mitt Romney in November. I hope and pray that we do just that.
