We’re back! After a much needed break, the PFEW staff is now "back in the saddle" after our five sessions of PFEW 2016. It was yet another extraordinary summer of excitement and learning for our students who journeyed into the world of private enterprise. When the final sessions concluded on Friday, August 5th, 2,081 young men and women had spent a week exploring the world of business with the 250+ volunteers who served as their mentors and advisors. It was an amazing summer and this issue of the Pulse is just to say "thank you" to all of our readers and supporters for helping us again make PFEW available to the future leaders of our state and nation. The quotes and photos below are just a taste of the excitement and activities of the summer. Future issues of the Pulse and PFEW News will feature many more program moments and we certainly hope you enjoy them. Thank you so much for helping us make PFEW 2016 so memorable and exciting for all who participated.

Warmly,
The PFEW Staff

Quotes from PFEW 2016 Graduates

"The words ‘amazing week’ may be an understatement. It was full of laughs, hard work, now friendships, amazing speakers, and in the end, two fantastic presentations that showed me how much all of my company’s devotion and team work paid off."
Joseph Billetta, Pope John Paul II HS- Montgomery County

"Not only is one taught the practices of a business that is mixed with activities that enhanced leadership skills, but also an overview of life. The speakers provided lessons regarding aspects of life and/or the reality of the business world that led to personal growth for me. This program touches all aspects that will surely affect every young adult’s future, this camp has forever changed me for the better."
Morgan Carosi, Perkiomen Valley HS – Montgomery County

"PFEW is a business camp, so of course I learned some keys to a successful business and how to work together with others to achieve a common goal – however, more importantly, I learned some things about myself. PFEW changed me by introducing new ideas, helping me break out of my shell, and motivating me to reach my goals."
Brandon Sanders, Waynesburg Central HS – Greene County

"Erie Gives" a Huge Success for PFEW!
As our readers know, "Erie Gives" is unquestionably the single most important fundraising day of the year for PFEW. Traditionally occurring on the second Tuesday of August, we returned from PFEW to immediately switch gears to prepare for that all-important day. We’re very pleased to report that, for the fifth year in a row, PFEW placed first out of the 354 nonprofits that participated in this event hosted by the Erie Community Foundation. At the conclusion of this twelve-hour online event, PFEW had received $331,797.50 from our supporters and boosters all across the state.

That resulted in a matching gift from the Erie Community Foundation of $15,297.48 for a grand total of $347,094.98 in funding for PFEW for this year and next. All of the proceeds will go to scholarships for our students and we wanted to say a very heartfelt "THANK YOU" in this issue of the Pulse to everyone who participated and made this day a great success for our kids. Your generosity is humbling!!
