State Senator Scott Wagner to Speak at
2017 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference

(Harrisburg, PA) – State Senator Scott Wagner (R-York) the first announced candidate for the 2018 Republican Nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania will be the kick-off speaker at the 2017 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference. The conference will be held March 31 and April 1, 2017 at the Radisson Penn Harris Convention Center in Camp Hill (Harrisburg), PA.

Columnist and social media commentator Ben Shapiro will be the featured speaker at the conference dinner on Friday, March 31st. Peter Schweizer, author and President of the Government Accountability Institute and CNN Commentator Jeff Lord will be featured speakers. Additional speakers and topics for this year’s panel presentations and workshops will be announced over the coming weeks.

The Pennsylvania Leadership Conference is the premiere gathering of public policy conservatives each year in the Keystone State. It is the largest and longest-running of the state-based conservative conferences regularly attracting a long list of conservative elected officials, scholars, journalists and activists for two days of speeches, panel presentations, workshops and networking.

Senator Scott Wagner was first elected to the State Senate in March 2014, winning a special election to represent the citizens of the 28th Senatorial District, which includes part of York County. In November 2014, voters elected him to a full, four-year term.

Born and raised on a farm in York Township, Wagner is a lifelong resident of York County. A graduate of Dallastown Area High School, he started his first small business at age 20 and has since worked with and led numerous businesses, helping them to improve their operations and create economic opportunity.

Wagner is currently President and Owner of York-based Penn Waste, Inc. and KBS Trucking in Thomasville, Pennsylvania.

As a small business owner, Wagner supports policies and programs that help to create jobs, limit government spending and ease the tax and regulatory burden on job-creators. A strong advocate for government reform, he will work to make state government accessible and accountable to the people he serves.

His top priorities as a member of the Senate include bringing fiscal responsibility to state government, controlling property taxes, helping to spur economic growth and protecting and defending constitutional freedoms.
Setting an example for others to follow, Wagner will not accept a government pension or per diems and will work to keep costs down to save taxpayer dollars.

Wagner serves as Chairman of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, is Vice Chairman of the Labor and Industry Committee, and sits on the influential Appropriations Committee. He also serves on the following committees: Intergovernmental Operations, Transportation, and Majority Policy.

Wagner is active in the York non-profit community and has served in organizations promoting entrepreneurship and leadership development. He is a past recipient of the South Central PA, Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Distinguished Service Award.
