With Donald Trump far out in the polls, the race is on to be the understudy in case of a Trump legal and/or mental meltdown. And it is clear there are just two contenders, Governor Ron DeSantis and former Governor Nikki Haley.

You don’t need to look at the polls to know this is a DeSantis-Haley battle. They hardly acknowledged the other candidates, training their occasional barbs at one another. Vivek Ramaswamy tried to mix it up, but his attacks were mostly dismissed, and his own statements were ignored.
