Democrats’ Campaign Sequel: The Phantom Menace

Member Group : Jerry Shenk

National Democrats have a November election to worry about. Careers and congressional majorities are at stake – as is final confirmation of President(ish) Joe Biden’s lame duck status.

The party’s campaign strategy is designed to further divide and distract Americans while making inconvenient facts disappear. Democrats and their corporate media allies are busy manufacturing phantom issues, while ignoring the serious problems Democrats created.

America’s economy shrank 1.9 percent in the first quarter; food and fuel prices are soaring; Bidenflation is decimating family budgets; product shortages, including baby formula, are common; COVID deaths more than doubled after Biden promised to “shut down the virus”; two-million people crossed the southern border illegally in the last twelve months; millions more are inbound; America’s debt exceeds $30 trillion, 12-14 percent of it accumulated in the past fifteen months; Biden’s foreign policy is in shambles; America is losing status in the world; and Russia is exploiting Biden’s fecklessness to revive the Cold War.

Despite – or because of – all those serious problems, remedies for which never appear in their campaign materials, Democrats are using deceitful “wedge” issues in the run up to the midterm elections. They are pandering to and indulging special-interest groups, while promoting divisiveness, resentment and fear.

The minorities, young Americans, single women and college-educated cultural liberals who cumulatively comprise significant portions of Democrats’ fragile coalition are also among the groups most likely to be disappointed, even angered by Biden’s personal and policy flaws and failures. Accordingly, Democrats are attempting to bribe or frighten them to the polls with phony controversies.

Democrats’ proposal to forgive student loans would transfer more than $1.5 trillion of debt onto the 87 percent of taxpayers who repaid or never took out loans. Will Democrats reimburse people who worked for years to repay theirs?

Expressing “alarm” over voter identification laws, Democrats warn of voter “suppression,” ignoring that photo ID is needed to gain entry to their national conventions.

The party has created false scenarios over “threats” to LGBTQ “rights” that include teaching gender and sexual abnormalities to schoolkids.

They’ve made Russia’s war on Ukraine a “doomsday” scenario that also serves as a convenient excuse for the administration’s policy-driven inflation.

In Afghanistan, Biden and his secretary of defense oversaw the most humiliating retreat in the nation’s history, while insisting that America’s chief existential threats are climate change and “white supremacy.”

But, will voters care about apocryphal climate change after they’ve canceled summer vacations because gas costs $4-6/gallon, and inflation has decimated family budgets? And where is Democrats’ hard evidence for widespread “white supremacists,” violent or otherwise?

Recently, an as-yet-unidentified U.S. Supreme Court malefactor leaked a preliminary draft of a court decision that would reverse Roe v. Wade. Rather than condemning the potential career-ending impropriety of violating court protocols, Biden, Democrats and media irrationally approved leaking a decision that would simply return abortion policy to the states.

Since thuggery has become their default setting on any hot-button issue (See: George Floyd, BLM, Antifa), Democrats/media are whipping up the anger of abortion radicals who are threatening the Supreme Court and harassing justices at their homes.

The New Yorker magazine equivocated, “What Choice Does Biden Have? … With the impending evisceration of Roe v. Wade, partisanship is the only course for a President in our broken system.”

Liberal Democrats call radicalism “defending our democracy,” because, apparently, America’s “system” is “broken” if Democrats don’t get their way.

Furthermore, Democrats are absurdly calling half or more of Americans “extremists,” “insurrectionists,” “transphobes,” “misogynists” – and worse.

It’s futile.

An ABC/Washington Post-commissioned survey revealed that three-fourths of Americans say the economy is terrible; sixty percent say they’re suffering under Biden-induced inflation; only 17 percent claim to be better off under Biden, and two-thirds of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Furthermore, Republicans have a staggering 20-point lead among voters asked which party can best restore America to economic health.

The generic ballot currently favors a Republican over a Democrat by seven percentage points.

The economy is the single most important issue for Republicans, Independents, and even for Democrats. Hyping diversions – phantom menaces – isn’t going to save national Democrats.

November is months away, but, the administration’s transparent, cynical pandering and appeals to fears and resentments in place of solutions to America’s real problems suggests that a Democrat-controlled Congress and, with it, a Biden presidency are almost over.
