Evaluating VP Kamala Harris Isn’t ‘Sexist’

I have been admonished by a few people, presumably liberal Democrats, who insist that expressing an opinion that “…a President(ish)” Kamala Harris is unthinkable” is “sexist” – or something…

Frankly, applying their nonspecific, merely implied “logic,” the only indisputable, on-the-record sexism expressed toward Harris has been by “sexist” Democrats who didn’t – and don’t – like her very much, either.

Harris launched her political career as consort to an influential (married) California power broker, “consorted” her way into the upper echelons of California’s power structure, declared her candidacy for the American presidency while a first-term senator before, virtually unsupported by fellow Democrats, withdrawing from the field in 2019 before the first 2020 primary vote was cast.

Democrats still dislike whatever they didn’t like about Harris back then. Harris’s average approval rating is consistently fifteen points or more underwater.

Sexism, right?

But, now, Vice-President Kamala Harris is one heartbeat, one 25th Amendment removal, or one impeachment conviction away from the American presidency.

Joe Biden, the oldest American president in history, is clearly unwell. Furthermore, he is responsible for a series of disasters that are still unfolding in real time before a world audience. Few are convinced Biden will remain even marginally functional until the 2024 presidential campaign kicks off.

Kamala Harris was an unlikely VP selection. After securing his party’s nomination, Biden promised a female running mate. Then, following the George Floyd riots, public/party pressure forced him to select a woman of color. Of subcontinent-Indian/Jamaican heritage, Harris was the lone “acceptable” female among the party’s original primary aspirants.

Fawning liberals in corporate media swooned.

Now, however, some of Harris’s former media allies, who, at one time, wouldn’t have reported her gaffes, have apparently become “sexist,” too. Recently, NY Times(!) editors actually approved – and published – an opinion piece stating that, if something happens to Biden, Kamala Harris isn’t ready to take over.

The administration put Harris on the public stage as Border Czar, then assigned her voting rights duty. She has failed miserably at both.

Harris was supposed to resolve the border crisis. Instead, things got far worse. She gave an “impassioned” Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech in which she nonsensically claimed voting rights to be under assault “in Georgia and across our nation.”

When an NBC interviewer noted that she hadn’t been to the border for months following her Border Czar assignment, Harris mugged and replied, absurdly, “I haven’t been to Europe, either.

Harris did make an awkward trip to Central America, though, where she tried to talk tough on immigration. “Do not come!” she exclaimed, before Guatemala’s president reminded Harris that her administration’s own policies were attracting illegals.

CNN reported that Harris’s staff was “in a panic” over her border assignment. Based on interviews with current and former staffers, Politico detailed the dysfunctional atmosphere on Harris’ staff where, “as one source memorably put it, ‘people feel treated like [excrement].’”

None of that is surprising, really, because, by comparison, Kamala Harris makes even Hillary Clinton look smart, gracious, authentic and likeable.

Harris may have achieved nothing as vice-president, but her speeches and infrequent interviews have been highly entertaining.

Unscripted, Harris can be even worse than her consistently-incoherent boss. Harris has difficulty getting through even soft-ball interviews without radiating insincerity, outright fabrications, and bizarre, inappropriate facial expressions and/or cackling laughter in response to questions for which she lacks answers.

Here’s Kamala on her boss’s COVID policies that have recorded 150+ percent more deaths than during the previous administration: “It is time for us to do what we have been doing. And that time is every day.

On Ukraine, Kamala explained: “So, Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong.”

Kamala on America’s space program: “Space is exciting. It spurs our imaginations, and it forces us to ask big questions. Space, it affects us all and it connects us all.”

Harris’ shallowness, likability-deficit and incompetence may be Joe Biden’s 25th Amendment/impeachment insurance.

But, either way – Biden in, or Biden out – Democrats face some huge problems. Sadly, so does the nation. “Sexism” is not one of them.

May a merciful God – and the next midterm and presidential elections – save and preserve the United States of America.
