Pennsylvania’s Largest Small-Business Group Endorses 131 Candidates in State Legislative Races
Selected candidates will support small business growth if elected
(HARRISBURG) Sept. 22, 2016 – Members of Pennsylvania’s leading small business advocacy group, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), today announced its state legislative endorsements in the upcoming general election. One hundred thirty-one candidates in the race for state Senate and House seats have been endorsed.
"We have scrutinized all the voting records of the incumbents on issues of importance to small business and surveyed the challengers on those same topics. NFIB also sought input from a team of small business owners who made the final endorsement decisions," said Kevin Shivers, executive state director of NFIB/PA. "We are sure that these endorsed candidates if elected, will support budding entrepreneurs and existing small businesses by making sure public policies encourage their success and growth. In turn, that will help improve the Pennsylvania economy and employment in the Commonwealth."
NFIB has over 14,000 small business members in Pennsylvania representing a cross-section of the state’s economy. The endorsements come from Pennsylvania’s NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and are based on positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.
Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote for the candidates in the general election in November.
