PA Chamber statement on PennFuture
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry said it was disturbed by the allegations detailed in the July 18 edition of the Harrisburg Patriot-News about the environmental advocacy group PennFuture.
"The article certainly makes a strong case that PennFuture is a lobbying group masquerading as a charitable organization," said PA Chamber President Floyd Warner. "In fact, the wording on the group’s own website fully demonstrates this to be true."
Warner said evidence of PennFuture’s alleged disingenuous dealings is ironic given the organization’s constant attacks on groups with opposing viewpoints and the aspersions PennFuture has cast on these groups, particularly Pennsylvania’s job creators.
"What is most distasteful, however," Warner continued, "is that this organization’s agitation for higher taxes on businesses, families and individuals, as well as its repeated call for regulation and penchant for legislation through litigation is apparently being carried out with taxpayer money."
Warner said given the details contained on the Patriot-News article, the activities of PennFuture deserve more scrutiny.
