PMA Response to Governor’s Budget Address
The following quotes regarding Governor Wolf’s FY 2020-21 Budget Proposal can be attributed to David N. Taylor, President & CEO, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association:
“Like déjà vu all over again, Governor Wolf’s budget proposal is strikingly similar to last year’s. The Wolf plan does not prioritize competitiveness and doesn’t do anything to make businesses want to locate, hire, or expand here in Pennsylvania rather than in one of our competitor states.”
“There is nothing new in Governor Wolf’s proposed budget, just a rehash of all the same ideas the General Assembly has already rejected. From new and additional taxes on Pennsylvania energy production, to increased corporate tax complexity, to artificial inflation in government mandated wages, these stale plans have finally turned rancid. The failure of the Wolf Administration to offer a pro-growth agenda on jobs – for the sixth time — is disappointing but not surprising.”
“Pennsylvania’s economic growth is only a fraction of what our high-performing competitor states experience. Those high-performing states focus on business competitiveness as a top priority for public policy. Governor Wolf’s proposed budget is more of the same, which will only deliver more of the same chronic underperformance and missed opportunities for Pennsylvania.”
