The Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University will celebrate its one-year anniversary Tuesday with two student-moderated panel discussions and the dedication of a plaque honoring Dick Scaife, late owner of Trib Total Media and chairman of the Allegheny Foundation, which provided a grant to build the center.
“Mr. Scaife often talked about ‘investment in ideas,’ and how much he believed that a free, independent press plays a critical role in democracy,†said Andrew Conte, the center’s director and a former investigative reporter at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “We are pleased to honor his legacy with this plaque as we prepare a new generation of students to become innovative storytellers.â€
The dedication will be at 1 p.m. at the center on Wood Street in Downtown Pittsburgh.
