Scott Wagner in Historic Victory

On March 18th 2014, a write-in campaign for a Senate seat was successful. This is the first time in modern history a candidate who was not on the ballot won an election at this level. And, this is terrific news for taxpayers.

Scott Wagner waged a successful write-in campaign despite backroom deals and an incredibly negative campaign waged against him. Not only did Wagner win, but his victory came at a significant margin. The unofficial vote totals show that Wagner received 47 percent of the vote in a three-way race.

It is worth noting that Wagner is the first Senate candidate that the CAP PAC has worked with from start to finish to break into the upper chamber. His success also moves the Ben Franklin Project one step closer to fruition.

Having a Senator who is immune to the traditional levers of power senate leaders use to keep members in line will go a long way to disrupt the status quo in the Senate.

At this point, it is unclear whether or not Wagner will face a rematch in the May primary. At the very least, his margin of victory should make Senate Republicans and the State GOP reconsider their strategy of personal attacks and fear mongering.

Congratulations Senator-elect Wagner!
