Smokescreen Lifts – Left Exposed

After decades of blowing smoke to obscure their core ideologies, Democrats have finally emerged from their self-generated haze and revealed their dystopian vision for America.

That’s good, because, when messages are unclear, the party that relies primarily on emotional appeals and promises often wins, never mind that none of it is necessary, achievable or sustainable.

For example, liberal, head-in-the-sand Democrats still reflexively defend unsustainable 1930s and 1960s social programs and handouts. To them, there is no crisis of Social Security or the welfare state.

Republicans tend to be more conservative – at least by comparison to most Democrats. However, the party, generally, has gradually become somewhat more so as conservative voters gained influence, elected more officials and nudged more Republicans to the political right.

Some Republican-lite incumbents remain, but conservatives are making real progress and, in the process, are infusing the GOP with energy and a bit of spine.

Liberals understand that conservative influences on Republicans – and moderate Democrats – threaten their “progressive” agenda, so, to discredit normal, everyday, patriotic, law-abiding fellow Americans, liberals call conservatives – people who merely disagree with them – “Nazis,” “insurrectionists,” “terrorists,” and “racists” among other charming epithets. So much for “civility.”

Platitudes, obfuscation and gratuitous insults have always been useful for liberal Democrats who rely on friendly media to further obscure and amplify their vague, often mendacious “messages” and to deny or excuse liberal excesses.

Few have done more to expose the parties’ ideological differences and improve conservative prospects than former chief executive Barack Obama and President(ish) Joe Biden, both of whom have made it impossible for Democrats to hide their liberal, even radical ideology behind a façade of declared, but nonexistent moderation. Plus, Biden’s clearly measurable negative results have made it far more difficult for media enablers to hide the fiscal, economic, moral and social damage his policies have done to America and Americans.

Genuine conservatives are delighted with the new, smoke-free political environment, because they will fare better with the parties’ ideological differences clearly delineated and broadly understood. After decades of left-wing smoke screens, conservatives are able to draw clear contrasts and attract more voters.

Biden’s and the Democrats’ irresponsible spending, massive debt accumulation, lousy economy, brutal inflation, destructive energy policies, oppressive, often punitive COVID mandates, unregulated abortion-on-demand excesses, open borders, cratering education standards, gender aberrations and racially-divisive initiatives have given Americans a far better understanding of the party’s core “principles.”

The weaponized IRS and Justice Department/FBI’s persecution of conservatives, Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal, the government’s domestic electronic snooping, and an enormous increase in violent crime have eroded public trust in the Biden administration, and in Democrat-run governments generally.

The Biden administration is in a sharp state of decline. Mr. Biden already has little influence in Congress. He will have less next year – or none. No one in Congress fears him, and even some Democrats have grown weary of him.

Indeed, problems with White House Democrats predate Biden.

Scholar/writer Victor Davis Hanson wrote about the loss of ethical clarity during the Obama presidency: “One of the legacies of the Obama administration is presidential ethics as an entirely relative, abstract concept. Obama’s morality is to be judged by his professed aims, not his actual means of achieving them. … The problem, however, is not just that Obama’s declarations of moral intent are deemed more important than his concrete behavior, but also that his moral pieties serve as a psychological mechanism that offers exemption for his unethical conduct.”

In other words, in his and his ideological disciples’ minds, Obama’s desired ends always justified – and excused – any, even unethical or illegal means. Biden has adopted his former boss’s philosophy.

But, now, the smoke has cleared. Americans, including more young Americans, minorities and independents, understand that Biden’s/his fellow Democrats’ policies have failed the middle class, threatened their futures and the futures of their kids and grandkids. They know that Biden is a hyper-partisan political throwback, a left-wing hack, not the honest, moderate political healer his party advertised. As a result, more Americans have become receptive to positive, practical, constructive, conservative messages and reform initiatives that can be honestly defined, competently delivered and impartially administered.

In a two party system, an alarmed citizenry’s only refuge is the “out” party. To most, though, “not them” has a limited shelf-life, so Republicans must seize this opportunity and engage responsibly.
