The Illogic of the Transgenderism Movement

The left is waging war on every aspect of American culture and life.

Free expression, personal freedoms, equal justice, racial relations, fiscal responsibility, and public and higher education, among others, have been – and remain – under assault. The term “journalism” lost meaning as corporate media became handmaidens of the liberal Democratic Party.

But, few aggressions are as illogical or inexplicable as left-liberal Democrats’ inflexible political commitment to redefining “sex” and “gender.”

Normal people have always accepted their sex/gender as scientifically-inherent, determined at birth, and unchangeable. Only recently has opposition to that reality become left-wing political dogma.

Today, certain “woke” governments, businesses and institutions dictate that everyone use “non-binary” individuals’ non-gender-specific “preferred pronouns” or risk ridicule, losing jobs, being fined or even prosecuted.

Let’s examine the left-liberal “logic” that sex/gender is an individual choice exclusive of biological science…

The first broadly-accepted principles of logic – identity, non-contradiction, and the excluded middle – were expressed by ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle who taught that accurate conclusions are derived from deductive reasoning using logical syllogisms.

Aristotelian principles are relevant to the modern left’s view of sexual/gender identity. Back to that momentarily…

Humans are immutably defined by the chromosomal threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein in living cells that carry genetic information. Female cells have two “X” chromosomes, males’ have an “X” and a “Y” chromosome.

The National Institute of Health’s National Library of Medicine states: “The male, being XY, can generate two types of sperm: half bear the X chromosome, half the Y. If the egg receives another X chromosome from the sperm, the resulting individual is XX, forms ovaries, and is female; if the egg receives a Y chromosome from the sperm, the individual is XY, forms testes, and is male.”

In this case, at least, a United States government agency is exactly right.

Back to Aristotle…

Aristotle’s “Law of Non-Contradiction” posits that item “A” cannot at the same time be “Non-A”; his “Law of Identity” states that when something is true, it is identical to itself and nothing else (“A” = “A”); and his “Law of the Excluded Middle” means that a proposition cannot be both true and false.

Accordingly, trans-gendering violates every fundamental principle of Aristotelian logic – and mental health.

“Psychology Today” offers this definition of “gender dysphoria,” a mental pathology with a 40 percent suicide rate for which psychotherapy was once commonly prescribed:

“Gender dysphoria (formerly known as gender identity disorder in the fourth version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders…) is defined by strong, persistent feelings of identification with another gender and discomfort with one’s own assigned gender and sex; in order to qualify for a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, these feelings must cause significant distress or impairment. People with gender dysphoria often desire to live in accordance with their gender identity…”

However, other than their families, perhaps, virtually no one cared how transgendered adults lived their lives until they involved children.

The once-rare occurrence of “changing” one’s gender has devolved into a dangerous, deranged left-liberal Mengelian narrative that threatens America’s social fabric.

With the left’s full-throated approval, certain transgendered adults and adult enablers are targeting – recruiting – kids, toddlers included, with sexually explicit reading/teaching material and public venue drag shows.

Transgender activists’ term “gender-affirming care,” especially for children, may be today’s most reprehensible, most despicable euphemism.

“Gender-affirming care” includes chemical interventions/puberty blockers and radical surgeries to remove healthy birth gender body parts, including those of immature, impressionable, easily-influenced kids who are too young to drive, drink, marry, serve or vote. Advocates make the loathsome claim that “gender-affirming care improves the mental health and overall well-being of gender diverse children and adolescents.”

Jordan Peterson, Canadian psychologist and author of the “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos,” was once banned from Twitter (now “X”) for highlighting important cultural issues in which politics should play no role, “Remember when Pride was a sin, and [actor] Ellen Page…had her breasts removed by a criminal physician?”

One can reasonably argue that, 1) having pledged to “first do no harm,” surgeons who mutilate mentally-ill adults are criminals, 2) physicians who don’t actively oppose such butchery commit malpractice by omission, and 3) any physician who provides chemical/surgical “gender-affirming care” to innocent minors in place of psychotherapy – and the parents who permit it – should, at minimum, be prosecuted for child abuse.
