Thousands of Pennsylvanians to Join March for Life in D.C.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Thousands of Pennsylvania residents are expected to converge on the nation’s capital on Friday, January 18, to make the case that to be pro-life is to be pro-science.

“Technological advancements such as 4D Ultrasound demonstrate quite clearly the humanity of the child in the womb,” said Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative Director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, an affiliate of National Right to Life.

“Ultrasounds are a true window to the womb, showing babies smiling and even somersaulting in utero. It’s time our law catches up with science and protects all preborn babies from the harm of abortion,” Gallagher added.

The theme for the 2019 March for Life is “Unique from Day One.” This underscores the scientific reality that, from the moment of conception, a human being is an unrepeatable creation whose inherent rights should be protected.

“Every human being alive today and, as far as is known scientifically, every human being that ever existed, began his or her unique existence in this manner, i.e., as one cell. If this first cell or any subsequent configuration of cells perishes, the individual dies, ceasing to exist in matter as a living being. There are no known exceptions to this rule in the field of human biology.” *James Bopp, ed., Human Life and Health Care Ethics, vol. 2 (Frederick, MD: University Publications of America, 1985)

At the forefront of the March for Life will be young people from throughout Pennsylvania and across America who are determined to see an end to Roe v. Wade, the tragic 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling which brought about abortion for any reason—or for no reason—during all nine months of pregnancy. Also marching will be the women of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign—women who have had abortions, but who now regret them.
